Conclusion Gradual increases in dietary calcium intake above the first quintile in our female population were not associated with further reductions in fracture risk or osteoporosis.
(Summary: Study published in May 2011 in the British Medical Journal. Sample size: 61,000 Swedish women over 19 years. Result: No extra benefit to bone density when women consume more than 750 milligrams of calcium a day. Other important factors: avoiding high-acid diet (animal products); sufficient intake of other minerals; vitamin D intake; exercise.)

Some of you might need this for “National Vegetarian Week”…
Are vegans actually less likely to be B-12 deficient?
Happy birthday to Loreen Dinwiddie, who has an awesome name and just turned 108 years young! She credits her vegan diet, which she started in 1922 with her husband, for her longevity.
Loreen, a Seventh-Day Adventist, says she draws her diet from biblical teachings: “People say to me, ‘you don’t have any aches or pains and you’re feeling great at 108, what do you do?’ Well, do what God tells you to do. It is all in the Bible.”
Girrrrrrl, I personally don’t do the religion thing, but I ain’t gonna pick a bone with you over what made you go vegan, so rock on. We’re gonna live forever!
Take that, all you “there are no long-term healthy vegans” people. IN YOUR WHIPPERSNAPPER FACES. Respect.
